Driving along Route 3, you may notice a new addition to one of the Granite City Harbor grain terminals at America's Central Port.

A new dust collection system was installed as part of a Federal BUILD (Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development) Grant to advance the Port and its transportation partners' efforts to create more efficient, safer, and environmentally friendly operations.
The above system is instrumental in improving environmental, health, and safety conditions by helping ensure grain-related particulates unloaded from trucks and railcars stay on the conveyor belts, reducing product loss and creating cleaner air.
This installation is just one component of a $20,840,000 grant that will help fund improvements for river terminal operations in the Illinois cities of Granite City, Madison, East St. Louis, and St. Louis, Missouri.
Total project cost: $771,460.00
Federal contribution: $553,432.92
Local private investment: $218,027.08
