Mark Spizzo joined America’s Central Port (ACP) as the Regional Economic Developer in 2015. Mark has over 30 years of experience in Economic Development, including working with state and local governments, non-profits, and private development corporations.
Prior to ACP, Mr. Spizzo held economic development positions with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, the Regional Development Corporation of Southern Illinois, Alton Steel, and several private development corporations. His work has focused on industry attraction, retention and redevelopment strategies, creating regional development networks, and fostering use of development financing tools. He has experienced success in securing both large and small-scale industrial investments and commercial projects within Southwestern Illinois.
Mr. Spizzo devotes time and energy to working groups and is affiliated with the Leadership Council of Southwestern Illinois, Grow Granite, St. Louis Regional Chamber, Madison County Community Development, and numerous other organizations. He currently serves as 2nd Vice Chairman on the Board of the Illinois Economic Development Association.
When not working, Mark likes to spend time with his wife, Fran, and their three daughters. He also enjoys attending professional sports events, reading, and doing household projects.
