Mission Statement
America’s Central Port is committed to the health of our regional economy, southwestern Illinois and our environment. We operate our business in an environmentally sustainable manner, and our responsibility is to the communities we serve, our tenants, staff and local partners. Our commitment is for responsible resource use, protection of environmental assets and making business decisions that recognize the balance between today and tomorrow.
Green The Port Program
The Port is committed to promoting responsible growth in the communities it serves and has designed a program to achieve environmental sustainability goals in several key areas: water, energy, waste, indoor and outdoor environments, development and business practices. This sustainability program provides a structure for establishing goals and tracking progress on many environmental initiatives for the Port and its communities. Additionally, the Port has established America’s Central Green Team to help guide and plan these efforts. This team is made up of representatives of the Port communities, such as tenants, residents, staff and businesses. Team members meet monthly to review and measure the effectiveness of sustainability programs for the Port.
GOALS FOR A SUSTAINABLE AMERICA’S CENTRAL PORT
- Protect our communities from negative environmental impacts of Port operations and facilities; and
- Distinguish America’s Central Port as an environmental leader by being responsive and resourceful; and
- Promote sustainable business practices by reducing, reusing and recycling; and
- Engage and educate our communities
News
America’s Central Port has partnered with the Cities of Granite City, Madison and Venice to participate in a regionwide planning effort that seeks to coordinate housing, transportation, environmental, and economic development planning across the St. Louis Metropolitan Area.
We invite you to take a few minutes to fill out an online survey that will help us understand the community’s attitudes towards transportation, housing, and the environment.
