The weather isn’t the only thing that has been changing in the St. Louis Region lately. Progress continues to be made on the South harbor Project at America’s Central Port, which is set for completion later in 2014. But aside from the Harbor construction, the Port has continued making strides towards a more sustainable and “brighter” future.
Since the Fall of 2013, electricians at America’s Central Port have updated approximately 550 lighting fixtures in its existing 1 million square feet of warehouse space. However, the most recent upgrades have been made to the Port’s office building. June 30th marked the completion of the solar panel upgrades. The sixteen modules that were installed will produce an annual 5,400 kwh for Port employees and other tenants in the office building.
Financial assistance for the project was provided to the Port by Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (IDECO), Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC), and Illinois Green Economy Network (IGEN).
