America’s Central Port to host “Preview the Port” Monthly Business Start-up Program

In efforts to further jumpstart the area economy, starting in July 2012 and each month thereafter, America’s Central Port will host a tour and informational session on its services and business assistance programs.  According to Frank Miles, the Port’s Business Development Manager, “these sessions are ideal for start-ups and small businesses that are looking for additional resources”.

America’s Central Port is located in Granite City, IL at the center of the area’s infrastructure and has been committed to economic development since 1959.  The Port provides a small business incubator with space available for as little as $5 per day. The port also offers opportunities to rent warehouse and office space.  The Port also offers access to harbors that offer a premier location and facilities which move over three million tons of product annually.

America’s Central Port offers a variety of assistance programs to help lower operating costs for start-ups and expanding businesses.  The staff is knowledgeable in all aspects of planning and development for ports, industrial and commercial parks, building layout and design, operational components of intermodal transfers, steel movements, building renovation and construction.

Attending a “Preview the Port” session is a way current and prospective business owners can visit America’s Central Port and learn more.  These hour long sessions will include business plan review and provide available space options for your business.  Sessions will be held on the second Friday of each month from Noon until 1 p.m. in the Port’s main conference room at 1635 W. First Street, Granite City, IL 62040.  No reservations are required.  The July session will be Friday, July 13 at noon.
